President Trump Cancels Plan to Deploy Federal Troops to Bay Region
Donald Trump has called off plans for a dispatch of national agents to the Bay region that had triggered extensive opposition from local authorities and drawn activists flooding into the city centers.
Regional Anxiety Over Potential National Operation
The locale had been anxious after information emerged that the leadership was ready to send more than 100 CBP and additional officers to the US Coast Guard base in across the Bay, as part of a large-scale immigration enforcement initiative.

However, the chief executive declared he would not advance with a “escalation” of national agents in the area after conversing with the mayor, city leadership, and business executives including Marc Benioff and Jensen Huang.
“Through our exchange, the chief executive informed me explicitly that he was canceling every proposal for a federal deployment in the city,” the mayor said in a release.
