New England Equal Best Victory Run From Brady Years with Triumph Against Jets
First-year player Henderson has tallied five scores in the present year
New England equaled their best victory streak from the Brady era as they overcame division opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football
First-year standout Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
QB Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a score, completing 25 of 34 passes
The win extends the Patriots advantage at the summit of the AFC East as they improved to nine victories against two losses, with the New York bottom after dropping to two wins and eight losses
The opposing team had scored first at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a five-yard TD to cap the Jets' initial series
But the home team responded in the second quarter as Henderson ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back caught a pass from Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," Maye commented on Henderson. "He aims to be great."
Fields found Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the home side wrapped up the win
